Stingers '98s beat OBA champs in Mississauga
June 14 - The Stingers Mosquito put in another excellent tournament effort in Mississauga this past weekend, making it to second their semifinal in their first two tournaments. The Stingers had to play the OBA champion Mississauga Majors in the round robin on Saturday evening and came back from a 2-1 deficit in the top of the seventh to tie the game 2-2. The squad held the Majors at the bottom of the seventh and the game ended in a tie sending Scarborough into to the semi finals against Martingrove. They passed that test and won a chance to play the OBA champions for a second time in the tournament.
The Mosquito squad played their little hearts out against the Mississauga Majors in the finals and won the championship by a score of 6-3.
The team will now re-group to take on Thornhill at Bishops Cross on Wednesday and head to Cambridge on the weekend for the Toyota Tyke Tournament.
- Mosquito Stingers reach semi-final in Vaughan tourney
The Stingers '98s enjoyed a good weekend of ball at the Vaughan tournament May 22-24 despite the end result. The squad made it to the semifinals but lost to Etobicoke and then lost in the consolation final to Mississauga Majors. "We ran out of pitchers and steam at the end but overall they did very well for their first tournament," said coach Veronica Edwards.
